What is Founders and Funders: Penang Tech Edition?
This is an exclusive networking event where ASEAN tech startups can connect directly with top tier VCs, investors, govt agencies and industry leaders. Selected startups will have the opportunity to participate in a private investor-founder pitching session for Seed or Series A funding, with a chance to raise up to RM20 million.
What else is happening on the day?
We also have a stellar line-up of speakers and subject matter experts from venture capital firms, government agencies, alternative financing platforms and more!
How does the investor-founder speed dating session work?
Only the top 10-12 startups who meet the following minimum criteria and are vetted by our panel of judges will be selected for the private pitching
a) Be a Semicon, AI, Deep-tech, Hard-Tech or related high-tech company, or;
b) Provide enterprise-level solutions to larger companies in the above-mentioned sectors, and;
c) Looking for Seed or Series A investment.
d) Be at least 2 years old.
e) At least RM600,000 annual revenue.
f) Able/willing to raise at least RM500,000 funds in exchange for min. 20% equity (i.e. at least RM2.5 million valuation).
g) No criminal/litigation history.
In the morning of the event day, each founder will have 10 mins to pitch to different panels of investors and/or agencies in a round-robin style, followed by another 10 mins of Q&A. All pitch deck submissions need to be done through the Google form link provided below.

If I’m not selected to pitch, can I still attend the panel talks and networking dinner?
Absolutely! You can still attend the afternoon and evening sessions to network and gain insights from the investors and other key ecosystem players.
I'd like to exhibit at the event, are there booths available for rent?
Yes, we have Tech Startup booths available for rent from RM250/booth (Ts & Cs apply). Each booth consists of:
a) 1x 2 by 5 feet oblong table with cover
b) 2x chairs
c) 1x 24" monitor + power supply
This setup is ideal for you to display your marketing material like flyers, brochures, rollup banner and PPT.

Absolutely, help yourself to a generous variety of evening refreshments (all halal).
Is there free parking?
Yes, there is plenty of free parking at The Ship Campus, right in front of the main building.
What's the dress code?
Smart casual is fine.
Is there a prayer room?
Yes, our suraus are located at the back of Deck 4.
Is there a hotel nearby?

What about transport arrangements?
Coming to TSC – you can catch a Grab taxi from Penang island.
Leaving TSC – better to use AirAsia or InDrive e-hailing app as there aren’t many Grab drivers in Batu Kawan at night.
